The aftermarket has made good use of the SIG P365’s removable Fire Control Unit. The ability to remove the FCU and drop it into another grip module allows for an extreme level of customization.

We’ve seen grip modules aimed at improving ergonomics, competition, and even metal options. The Tyrant CNC Snub Nose grip module aims to provide a slim and trim grip module to expand your SIG’s grip and capacity.

What The Snub Nose Does Differently

The Snub Nose grip module does a few things differently. The most notable is providing a fairly long grip designed to accommodate the SIG XMACRO’s 17-round magazines. It’s an XMACRO-sized grip module that can fit the XMACRO slide, the XL slide, and the standard P365 slide.

When you toss on a P365 slide, you can see why they call it the Snub Nose. The XMACRO grip module is great, but due to the Picatinny rail, it doesn’t work with standard P365 holsters. It’s just too wide. If you want the 17-round capacity with the nice full grip, you’re stuck with the XMACRO and the holsters that fit it.

The Snub Nose solves that problem and delivers you compatibility with the shortest of SIG’s slides. The Snub Nose grip module uses the proprietary SIG rail first introduced with the original P365. Proprietary rails suck, but it allows for a slimmer gun and the P365’s popularity has created a number of accessories that mount to that rail.

Besides all that, the Snub Nose Grip Module also allows you to swap backstraps. That’s new to the Grip Module game. I found the included backstrap sufficient, but if you want to go bigger, that’s an option.

The grip module comes pre-drilled for a manual safety, but it looks like you’ll need to cut the safety area out. I don’t use the manual safety model, so I can’t tell you how well that works.

The Snub Nose In The Hand

It seems a bit blasphemous to call a modern grip module for an automatic a Snub Nose, doesn’t it? May the revolver gods not frown upon me for saying this, but the Snub Nose feels fantastic in the hand. It gives you a nice full grip on the gun, and the texture is fantastic.

It’s aggressive, but not abrasive if that makes sense. With a tight gri,p you can feel the texture on the front, rear, and sides as it fills your hand. That aggressive texture works well in the spring of Florida.

At the time of this writing, it’s technically spring, but about 95 degrees with 80 percent humidity. I’m a sweaty dude, and some of my recent handgun shooting has required a hand towel to do correctly.

That’s not a problem with the Snub Nose. Oddly, it is a problem on an actual snub nose with slick wood grips. (Damn you S&W 432 PD.) The Snub Nose grip module does a fantastic job of sticking in and to your hand during the recoil impulse of your firearm. You also get a few solid touches on the grip design.

The trigger guard is relieved a bit to provide a solid grip on the gun. You can tuck your hand up nice and high without discomfort. The rear of the grip has a medium-sized overhand that you can comfortably rest your hand against to ensure a high grip without the fear of slide bite.

The grip module comes with a pre-installed Tyrant CNC Magazine release. It’s quite large and very nice. It’s a great touch because I despise fiddling with those small wire springs and magazine releases. It also works well and improves upon the original P365 magazine release.

The Snubby

The Tyrant CNC grip module retails for around 80 dollars. For 80 bucks, you’re getting compatibility with standard P365 holsters and standard P365 slides with the expanded capacity of the XMACRO magazines and even the Fuse 21-round magazines. That’s cool, but they also made it an excellent grip that’s ergonomic, comfortable, and downright grippy. Check it out here.
