Resident Wounded But Returns Fire on Burglar During Home Invasion in St. Louis

ST. LOUIS, MO – In an overnight home invasion incident, a St. Louis homeowner was shot by a burglar during an attempted break-in, illustrating the dangers of directly confronting intruders. The confrontation occurred around 1:57 a.m. Sunday in the 5800 block of Wise Avenue, when a 34-year-old man discovered an intruder trying to enter his home through a rear window.

According to local media, the situation escalated quickly when the burglar, upon being confronted by the homeowner, opened fire, injuring the resident. The homeowner managed to return fire before the suspect fled the scene. The injured homeowner was subsequently transported to a local hospital for treatment.

This violent encounter underscores a trend where burglars are increasingly armed, posing significant risks to residents who might confront these criminals directly. It is always recommended not to engage with intruders unless you have to. Instead homeowners should arm themselves, remain in a secure area of their home and call 911.
