Barrett Announces the RETURN of the REC7 DI (Direct Impingement) Rifle

Barrett Firearms has announced the return of their REC7 DI (Direct Impingement) AR-15 patterned rifle with a nod to Stoner yet touting some modern accoutrements. Barrett states on their website that this rifle has “a nod to Eugene Stoner and his direct impingement design, [and] Barrett is proud to produce the REC7 DI.”

The newly re-introduced REC7 DI is meant to be lightweight, modular, and accurate – all the tenants of what discerning shooters are looking for in a modern sporting rifle. It also boasts Magpul furniture throughout, an attractive yet simple finish, and a free-float M-LOK compatible handguard for all manner of accessories. The rest of the specifications for the new REC7 DI can be read below as presented by Barrett Firearms:

  • Barrel Length: 16” Barrel with 1 in 7” Twist Rate and 1/2″ x 28 TPI

Murfreesboro, Tennessee – Barrett Firearms Manufacturing Inc., the leader in long range, is pleased to announce the return of the REC7 DI rifle. First introduced in 2016, this iconic firearm returns to the market in Summer 2024 following a temporary production hold due to the MK 22 contract.

Known for its reliability and precision, the Barrett REC7 is designed specifically for situations in which there’s no room for error and features a mid-length gas system for reliability with or without a suppressor. Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, its upper and lower receivers are machined from 7075-T6 aluminum, while all aluminum components are coated in Type 3 hardcoat anodizing.

Featuring a cold hammer-forged chrome-lined barrel, Magpul® furniture, ALG QMS trigger, and extended slimline Barrett handguard with M-LOK® accessory mounting slots, no detail has been overlooked in the pursuit of excellence.
