Kenosha Homeowner Uses Kitchen Knife To Defend Against Intruder During Struggle

KENOSHA, WISCONSIN — A man is dead after breaking into a home and fighting with the homeowner. The incident occurred around 7:20pm on September 16, 2022 on the 6900 block of 64th Ave in Kenosha.

Police say on Friday night, a man appeared to be trying to break into cars and homes at random. Police were called to investigate. Residences told WISN-12 that the man was damaging vehicles in their normally quiet neighborhood minutes before he broke into the home on 64th.

After having an interaction with another homeowner down the street, the man wandered to the home on 64th where he forced his way inside. He and the homeowner then got into a physical struggle. The homeowner defended himself and his wife with a kitchen knife. The deceased was later identified as 22-year-old Franklin D. Clark of Kenosha.

Neighbors say about a dozen police responded to the incident. “As it was happening some of my family members heard a loud thump, then a scream,” said Alfredo Monroy, the next-door neighbor, “Policemen were just coming down the street, there was probably a dozen or more police officers here.”

Neighbors say that they are taken aback, but glad that the homeowners are OK and were able to defend themselves. “I’m glad that they were able to defend themselves and keep their home and our neighborhood safe,” Monroy said.

According to the Kenosha County district attorney, No charges will be filed against the homeowner. Police said there is no threat to the community.
