(Kitco News) – Interest rates that are expected to remain higher for longer, the threat of a looming recession and geopolitical uncertainty are just a few of the significant risks investors face in the new year. At this critical juncture, the Kitco News team is excited to bring a new member to its award-winning team to continue providing extensive coverage, insight and analysis of these developments.

Jeremy Szafron joins Kitco News as an anchor and producer in Kitco’s Vancouver bureau. Szafron is a seasoned journalist with a diverse background covering entertainment, current
affairs and finance.

Along with his media background, Szafron also has over a decade of experience within the commodity equity space. He has worked as a market strategist and investor relations consultant with various publicly traded companies in the mining, energy, [cannabis], and tech industries.

“I’m excited to be part of this team. Kitco has a great reputation for providing solid information and has a massive reach. The overall teamwork within Kitco is unlike anything I’ve worked with in other newsrooms.” he said.

With more than 800 resource companies and junior explorers headquartered in Vancouver, Szafron will be situated in the largest mining sector in Canada.

“With Vancouver being the world’s mining hub, we are expanding our Vancouver bureau with a new state-of-the-art studio, and Jeremy will greatly enhance the team. His energetic and charismatic delivery and wide spectrum of experience will enable Kitco Media to develop more high-caliber content. We all look forward to working with him,” said Michelle Makori, Editor-In-Chief and Lead Anchor of Kitco New

Some of the long-term trends that Szafron said he is interested in covering include the growing digitization of commodities. He explained that things like gold-backed tokens have the potential to be the next evolution in the commodity space.

“I’m fascinated by the larger decentralization trend and how the digital space continues to grow,” he said. “I look forward to bringing a fresh voice to Kitco’s commodity coverage.

Szafron added that the green energy transition is proving a new opportunity for the commodity sector and attracting a broader group of generalist investors.

“The world needs commodities; faced with two wars and an economic downturn, we are witnessing the emergence of new perspectives and ideas. I am excited to be a member of the Kitco team as the world sits at these important crossroads.”
